stephanie (10 out of 10 ) I loved this movie! THE BEST MOVIE EVER.
Millie (8 out of 10 ) Had to watch for an english assignment. Confusing the first time but it's cool.
4hebert (8 out of 10 ) Great movie. Original and great idea.
Truman (10 out of 10 ) I like the movie the truman show. Jim Carry is my favorite actor and I like all his films. It is a brilliant idea and I wish I can come up with something as great as that.
DoubleUK (7 out of 10 ) Nice movie. But did anyone read this script? This one is totally different from the movie which takes place in an idyllic little town. In this draft (the original?) Truman lives in Manhattan! And dates hookers. And goes back and forth between Truman's past and present. So the movie is quite a departure from the initial idea but a great story nonetheless.
Charlie S. (10 out of 10 ) An absolutely brilliant script and a brilliant film. It has everything you want in a film; perfectly entertaining. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you question and it makes you imagine.

AlexS (10 out of 10 ) Another masterpiece by Weir.
Soila (5 out of 10 ) I saw it in a different light. I saw it as an essay about a government/parenthood/abusive spouse whose benevolent(?) attempts to shelter and shape the lives they were charged with were ultimately destructive and wrong. Truman didn't specifically know he was seeking freedom from an oppressive overlord. He only knew he was seeking a freedom that was inherently his, and the world which confined him was false and constructed. This is often the case when citizens of an oppressive government (or child of an oppressive parent or spouse) seek freedom or change.
Henry (10 out of 10 ) This is one of my favorite movies. This is Niccols's original spec script, not the final draft of the movie we all got to see. So there are some major differences that may seem jarring to those who read this script. The director, Peter Weir, usually makes dramas. The writer, Andrew Niccol, usually makes sci-fi thrillers. So the differences make sense The setting is in NYC and some of the characters are different. And Truman seems like a more psychologically damaged person. And it leans far closer to an R-rating. But at it's core it is still the same great story. Highly recommend.
SpringCat HV (10 out of 10 ) This movie was amazing, and reading the early script was wild. It was crazy reading about what Trumans meltdown used to be, and how he would have drowned Maryl. That wasn't even in the movie. Either way I love this thing.
